Wow. Just...wow. I was so blown away by the incredible turnout of local and regional teams (a veritable Who's Who of the cycling region), recreational cyclists, TT'ers, various cycling officials, the Board of the CCTTA, not to mention family and the many friends this young man had through his life and work experiences. It brought me to tears.

The stories shared by his co-workers, by his team, by his friends and family, and by his wife (what an incredibly strong woman) did so much to uplift the overflow crowd, many of whom were in tears or close to.

We should all hope to touch so many lives in such a positive way, and to be remembered with the fondness and affection shown toward this young, 35-year-old man. Even Lance Armstrong sent condolences to the widow and family and to Adam's team.

Adam, thank you for bringing so many people together, all of whom appreciate your contributions to the sport and to people in general. RIP.

It reads as though Stacy is a somewhat reckless driver and desperate individual (in re the petty larceny). The people who jumped to her defense, bless their innocence, obviously were unaware of her driving history.

This doesn't diminish the scope of the tragedy...I can't imagine the Little Family's first Christmas without Adam. That's a pain that young Stacy can only imagine...

Update!

Driver is scheduled to appear in Rowan County District Court on May 27 to face these charges:

Failure to wear a seat belt, failure to secure a passenger under 16, and expired operator's licence.

She's also scheduled to appear in Cabarrus County District Court on May 31 to face these charges:

Misdemeanor death by vehicle and misdemeanor probation violation.

Driver will appear in District Court in Cabarrus County on July 20 to face these charges:

no operator's license
failure to secure a passenger under 16

Along with new (or at least more recent) charges:

cancelled/revoked/suspended certification/tag
ficticious/altered title/registration card/tag
no operator's license (apparently a second similar charge)

Don't know yet what happened on May 31 regarding the two misdemeanors, but will post up when I do.

Well, speak of the devil, here's the conviction. But she got off with probation and an 18-month suspended sentence?

Given her obvious disregard for the law (not to mention the safety of her own child), she should be behind bars.
