CA-39 & More Snow

Just a quick report. Gorgeous up on 39 today, although definitely still a bit cloudy.

Gorgeous at the more moderate elevations:



Getting near the snowline:



Closure gates just a bit above 5k:



It seems I was not the only one to cycle through the snow:



Although, those tracks did not go too far.

Slushy snow to ride through:

I finally turned around at this point:



Turns out it is tough riding once the snow nears the 6" mark.

Still, I did my best:



Looking up at the upper sections of snowy 39:



Good times.

Well, I suppose that is also a good use of a day following a snow storm..

But seriously, I need to get in some more skiing. I put in a solid amount of time at Baldy the previous two seasons (thanks cheap virtual pass), but this season has just been so weak that I've mostly stuck to cycling/hiking. Here's hoping next season brings more snow!

I have. Had a lull in my cycling for a while (new job, at the time), but am trying to ramp the cycling back up. I'm hoping to get back to posting new rides on ToughAscent in the near future, but at the very least I'll post the occasional mini-report/pictures here. Anyway, thanks!

How are traffic conditions leading up to Crystal Lake Campgrounds?

Lower down before East Fork bridge is a little trafficky, but once past the OGV parking areas very minimal.
