The ride this morning was good. 23 miles in 1:39. A little slower than I wanted...but it wasn't a race. A couple hills were brutal....one about half the people actually got off and walked up it.

Home from Greenville (since 4pm)...cleaned the floors, washed/dried clothing, relaxing.

My Dad is doing absolutely great! You would think that a change in environment would cause him to "misbehave" and take about 2wks before he "adjusted" to the new place....but, not this time. At least not yet. He's just doing wonderfully. But. I doubt this place is the one for long term. I have some serious concerns about staff, especially on weekends, that will have me & Hank looking for a new place soon.

Main goal for this place was to get him out of the skilled nursing stereotype..."once in skilled nursing, always in sn". not really so. Anyways....good to see him, but will be searching for a better place (staff-wise).

Watching the TdF right now and looking forward to getting in some rides this week, with the somewhat cooler temps.

WP, so glad to hear that he is, at least for the moment, thriving where he is. And nice that you have support as you seek out a better place for him to live. Like I said, there are some nice places in the CLT area, but I know you'd like to get your dad back closer to you. Drop me a line or call me if you want to talk a bit.

House is cooling down after today's 101F dry temp today. Was higher wrt humidity, but I didn't catch the heat index when I was trying to catch the news.

Just glad that tomorrow's high will only be 93F.

The meterologists around here are all saying that the "heatwave" has ended. We shall see.

What's positive is that you got out and did it.

I woke up early enough to get to a 46-mile charity ride that I did last year, only to find that I'm still having issues with my rear brake caliper. And for the life of me, could not get the two pads to sit equidistant from the rim.

Will have to take the bike to my LBS down the street to have it ready to ride by Wednesday's TT.

We had a semi-fun tandem ride today. Only semi because the heat got me again...had nothing to offer when the captain called for power.

OTOH, Mr. RR made the first cobbler of the season, and it's flat-out amazing! The peaches are just right, and the cobbler parts are just right. We'll be eating a lot of this, I suspect.

Whatever peaches we don't jam/eat by Wed. will be jammed. The rest of the crop, still on the tree, we'll give to the local homeless shelter, as they're always needing fresh produce. I wish I could see a kid eating his/her first fresh peach, the juice running down her/his chin, eyes wide in the "OMG this is incredible!" revelation.

I believe in sharing the bounty...if that makes me a socialist, then so be it. I think it makes me human and aligned with my beliefs -- give to those who have less than I. Cannot imagine not sharing this goodness.

Now, I have to lay down, as the combination of grilled corn on the cob, homemade flatbreads with pesto & marinated tomato fillings and cobbler and wine have reduced me to a bloated food coma. *thunk* *falls onto floor with a full belly*

Morning! Moanday
and no RR...you sharing your own personal bounty does not make you a socialist....
we can open that can of worms if you wish, but your actions aren't socialist (at least that one).

If we are what we eat, I think I'm going to turn into a raw almond any minute now.

I honestly think that eating lots of them induces weight loss. At least that's the pattern I'm noticing when I eat 5-6oz per day vs none. And they're healthy, too.

I was just gonna eat 'em as a lower carb snack after my workout.
Guess I'll just have to try again tomorrow.....I got the smoked ones...they are amazing.
