So... I take a year or so off of road cycling and come back to find all the peeps I forumed with gone. What happened? Where is everybody?

Does this mean you are riding again? I hope so. It is still fun and rewarding. Still dangerous too.

Yup, sure am. I sold off my road bikes a year ago because I went through a second childhood and got back into BMX, heh. Unfortunately, BMX doesn't keep me in shape like road cycling does, even getting on the track (which is the draw for road biking; I can only get on a BMX track at certain times, and street riding just doesn't have the cardio).

So I picked up another road bike. Nothing special, a 2006 bikes direct Mercier my neighbor bought new and hung in his garage after I assembled it for him. He never even got the wheels tensioned and trued, so they're at the bike shop now. Once they get back, I'm on the road again.

I'm selling my BMX race bike but I've still got my BMX street bike... I'm still gonna hafta "get rad" every once in a while.

As far as FB... yeah, I'm on it, but I prefer forums much better for specific-topic conversations.

I know. But I grew up BMX racing, and the lure to return became too much to bear.

I'm still here after over four years, a tribute to a well-run forum that doesn't implode from top-down.

Hope there was no nefarious reason as to why you took a year off, and that you're ok now.

In any case, nice to see you lookin' in again, and hope you stick around now that you're back! As you say, forums do allow for better "specific-topic" conversations, even if those conversations are sometimes "off-topic."

Here's hoping that your activity on the Mercier will eventually pique your neighbor's interest in cycling. Always nice to bring another one to the dark side!

Nothing nefarious... my "cycling support system" evaporated (the people I rode with went their separate ways) and so I buggered off road cycling in favor of BMX. Now I'm back.
