About 40 miles, 4800' of climbing. Up Rock Store, down Latigo to the beach. Road surface downbound was awful. Lots of cracks and bad pavement.
Beautiful day down there. Tons of cars heading out...glad I'm not driving down there today! Then the looooong slog up Latigo. Seven miles from PCH to the first summit in nearly 90 degree heat. Begged for the shady spots...not many near the bottom...so that I would get some relief. Got slower and slower as I climbed the 2500'. Stopped at a hose to pick up water. Legs burning, lungs exploding and sweat dripping down my body. Made the top and then more climbs back to Kanan and down RS..Way too many motorcycles out there. Glad to get home in one piece. 80 miles this weekend bringing the week to over 120.

“On the road again…” at 6:15 a.m. It was quiet and cool out. Rode my usual route working my way toward to Rose Bowl for a quick lap before meeting up with other SoCal RiderS at the Coffee Bean. I rolled in for coffee just as they were setting up their bikes. I do enjoy setting around with everyone.
I felt pretty good today given what I did Saturday on the bike. When I really do a hard ride like I did I drink another recovery drink just before I go to bed. This does help. However, it was getting hot on my last leg home and the engine was shutting down. I could feel it. I think I did not drink enough. As soon as I hit the door I had another recovery drink and ate a whole watermelon then took a nap BEFORE showering. Now that I have napped and showered I feel good. Though I am wondering how I will perform tomorrow. It is hot here now, 97 degrees. 64.2 miles; 2,585 feet

I raced today.
After a tomato/avocado/Dubliner cheese sandwich I put on my compression tights and took a nap. Went out about 4 on the tandem for a recovery ride. Now that I'm cleaned up I'm ready for an adult recovery beverage and putting the legs up for a while.

I picked up another SoCal Rider this morning so we could ride from the Malibu Bluffs north on PCH to Oxnard and back. Here is a tip: never take another rider out with you when they are excited about riding the coast and have fresher legs then you. His idea of a beginning warm up was finishing our coffee in the truck before we clipped in.
Off we went out of the gate at 16 mph and then up to 20 mph. Me trying to hang on to his wheel as he cut a steady head wind for the next 31 miles. It was not long before I was falling off on the incline surges he was doing. He would let me catch back up and do it all over again. We never stopped on the way back. The tail wind had us locked in and we acted as though if we did stop it might not be there again. Finally I could no longer hold his pace and a big gap developed. I never saw him again until I got back to the truck. The ride was over at 11:40 a.m.! If it had just been me soloing I would still be out there dawdling along. None the less, I still enjoyed myself and ended with great stats. It was a good ride and we beat any crowds driving back home. 62.5 miles; 1,663 feet

Rode up to Mt. Wilson easy (121 avg. HR) this morning. Smelled smoke a bit on the climb to Clear Creek, but nothing after that. The views of the smoke blowing over to the desert were beautiful, but kind of sad. Saw lots of other cyclists out doing the same ride. Got home before temps got too high, ate lunch, and went to the pool to cool off.
