So, Sunday, Kyle and I went to Advance Auto to investigate paint for fixing some places on his front bumper where it had come off. Seemed like a lot of work to fix, so I told Kyle that we should stop in at the neighbor's house to see if he could fix it for Kyle.
He (neighbor) does car body work as a regular job and little side jobs like Kyle's on a regular basis. He said he could fix it and it didn't seem like an arm & leg ($150) to get it fixed. Left the car with him Sunday evening and he said it would be ready today. Because Kyle didn't have a car & the silly boy still doesn't know how to drive a stick (he could have taken me to work and driven my car), he was stuck here at the house for the last 2 days. Yesterday, he mowed the yard, chopped up all the limbs he cut off the pine trees Sunday evening, and then was bored. We fixed the push mower - put a new cord in and he trimmed yesterday evening as well.Today, he was bored shitless, so I left work around 1:30 to come home and take him to the gym so he could work out and then just hang out with him. He cut more pine limbs (dead ones) and tossed into the woods. I cleaned up all the limbs from the ground between my fence and the woods while he chopped. Fixed a bit of supper and then he wanted to go see if the car was ready. It was, the guy was just finishing washing it for him. Helped him (& showed him how) fix the rear door - it was hit by someone in Bojangles a few yrs ago and wasn't seating properly...lots of wind noise. Maurice fixed that by just bending the top of the door jamb. ![]() So, Kyle is happy - he has wheels again, and I'm happy to see him happy. He's off at Buffalo Wild Wings with friends for a bit now...On an other note...my Dad was buried today. So hard, but "this too, shall pass" and I will be ok. I have to get my cousin Robert to go by and pick up the flag this week for me and this weekend, I shall drive out to Valdese to visit and add more flowers. I probably need to measure the stone that my Dad already has to make sure it will hold the bronze plate with his info from the military. Man, I miss him. I hope that all this talk and beliefs of Heaven are true and that he's there with my Mom, his parents, and is happy & pain-free. I want to feel the vibes he's sending me to let me know he's ok and that he wants me to be happy with the time I had with him and cherish the wonderful memories. I will. ![]()

Well, Wolfie, it's 9/11. And your dad was buried today.
My BFF in Sandie Go lost her mom, who turned 84 today, 10 days ago when a red-light runner broadsided her. She rallied, survived hip-fixin' surgery, but her age, COPD, and magnitude of other injuries did her in. She was an amazing woman and we were honored that she counted us as her "kids", even if for a mere 16 yrs. So Thelma's service was today...she was able to donate organs to 4 people who will carry her legacy forward. Today has been full of extremes, from mourning & supporting mourning friends, to feeling f'n awesome because some executive decisions have proven to be the right ones to have made. And Mr. RR washed his car, even after spending 2 hrs. extra at work (no overtime for The Salaried One ), so I cooked him dinner. I guess overall life is a trade-off. You suffer when others hurt so you can celebrate when you succeed. You mourn deaths so you can celebrate life. And you celebrate your life and that includes holding up those who hurt. OK...off my soapbox... ![]()

My last TT practice of the season: There's one next week, and Oct. 3, and I'll be away both times. Good thing I took cookies to the guys who make this happen (volunteer) tonight.
So the carbon clincher I borrowed for the last TT I did requires a funky pump. I tried for 20 min. to make that sucker work, and never got past 60 psi. I bailed, thought about my options, loaded the road bike and never looked back. My new Merckx PR for the course. I remember my first TT bike result being close and being over the moon. I felt really slow, got passed by several aero riders, and was not happy...and that's how it is. I'm glad I didn't bail entirely, which was my first reaction when that stupid tire wouldn't cooperate. But I wanted to give the guys the cookies I made, because they're volunteers, and I really appreciate their help in my racing. All's good. ![]()

![]() What does it take to get a new one, and dispense with the stupid escorts?

Good Morning
![]() Don't ya just hate that RR (the pump issue)? But, good on ya for getting on out and doing the TT on the road bike. I need a vacation - one where I'm off somewhere nice, lots of bike riding, no worries, no cares. Maybe in October, I shall go visit my son in Savannah before he heads to Kandahar. November, I am going to Florida to do an ALS ride with some friends from another forum (not the mothership forum). Should be fun. I need fun and distractions. Trying to work out a date this month where I can get my Dad's Prius home plus other miscellaneous stuff he has left in Greenville at Hank's house (pictures & clothing mostly), get up to visit the grave & add flowers, get his flag from my cousin (he's going to pick it up for me since he's in Conover) and meet with he & wife for the grave site visit. Somewhere in there I have a bike ride in Greenville, NC - flat, flat, flat, and more flat - that I wanted to ride, but I'm thinking maybe I ought to just forgo the ride this year and take care of other things...There will be other opportunities to ride. Once I get the probate stuff started, maybe I can take a breather.... On another note - Taylor is doing well. All the stitches are out and the hair is slowly growing back. She acts just like she used to - even around other dogs - being really playful, sniffing them, etc. Seems not worse for teh damage. Anyways....
