you've got to work on speed, you won't get (much) faster just riding around more. you have to get out there and ramp up the speed (i.e. intervals). you know what you need to do...

Been 2 months since starting my new job & getting used to the commute. Direct, it's about 20-mins from home, not enough for most of my training. (Although it makes a nice recovery ride every Friday on my TT bike.) So I've been having to extend the commute best I can. So far, I've only gone out west to Valley Circle Blvd. A little here, there, and I can end up 40+ miles for the day. Now, only daylight is becoming the limiting factor
![]() Today, I ended up around 47mi by extending my morning commute through Mission Hills/Northridge to about 45-50mins or so. Legs still a little tired from the weekend (Simi on Sat, race on Sun, hard effort on Mon, off Tue) and I could feel a bit of fatigue in them. I pushed in spots here 'n' there, but tried to keep it mostly steady tempo. Little hard to do on the short steep walls. On my list is to extend my commute to east valley, up to Montrose, back down La Tuna, and maybe eventually further into the mountains (or north over Little T and back through Santa Clarita). Give me more distance (or at least time) than west valley. I'd rather do it in daylight, though. ![]() |

OK; so Sunday the 28th, Little T to Placerita, Santa Clarita, 126 out to Fillmore, back over Grimes Cyn., Moorpark, Simi, Santa Susana Pass, Devonshire and back across the valley. You game??

Those SoCal rides sound fun.
OTOH, I rehashed a familiar loop. At least the winds weren't up, the temps were down, and I dropped a rude so-and-so whom I passed, who didn't even say hello, then thought he could suck my wheel. ![]() I pushed the pedals and upped the mph by 5, and so dropped his arrogant a$$ efficiently. Made my day. ![]()
