AP1EKWAN, my Garmin died last year, and even though my HRM is still good, I have no way to use it. Fortunately, I have a pulse-oximeter (like you see in a hospital on someone's finger), but even so, I've also simply counted pulse in my neck before so I can know within a tick or two what my HR is.
I also use a large clock with a sweeping second hand as I count HR and cadence. Not "high-tech," but it doesn't have to be, especially in base-training mode. ![]() |

I rode harder at lunch than my commute. On Fridays atlunch, I would ride from work to the Observatory via trash truck hill. Usually, I would attack the climbs on that closed road.

Sadly no. LBS has been busy, and since I'm getting a great deal, I am (and I'm okay with) being put on the back burner.
I've been on the other "T" word. Treadmill. It's actually not that bad. Kinda takes a bit of concentration while watching TV. Thank goodness it has rails about waist high. You really can't laugh while running straight. At least I can't. And after quite a few days of going through the motions, I only have 1 ride day, which are the Sundays after Job 2 as many of you have suggested. |

Hope you've got your bike by now and have been able to get out for at least one ride since your last post.

VV, you must be eyeing my schedule or something.
It's coming along fine, but since the 2nd Job has been slightly more taxing on time, it would just be leaning against a wall if it was completed. I just told the shop to get to it when they got spare time. Once things settle at job 2 with employees, schedules and what not, I think I MAY have one solid morning of riding a week. I figure an early morning till 10:00 or so would be Fn awesome. I'm hoping things will work out in a month or so. We'll see. So far my time line has been waaaaaaay wrong. Sigh. Treadmill has been in use tho. |

Blah. I can imagine how frustrating that must be. Good that you take advantage of the treadmill in the meantime. How 'bout maybe adding some core-strength exercises and squats for the legs? Not to Hulk-up or anything...just enough to keep all your important cycling muscles toned and ready for action.

"AP1EKWAN, calling AP1EKWAN...."
![]() So...how's it going now? Did your schedule settle out a bit such that you could ride more outside? Did you manage to get more time on your trainer? ![]() Enquiring minds want to know! ![]() |
